Part three of our West Coast taster:
West Third Street in Los Angeles has an array of great shops, restaurants, boutiques and markets. Most of them are fairly widespread so make sure you are in the mood for a walk – unheard of in L.A. – we know… Here is a very small selection of them that we visited on our final day in Los Angeles:
Joan’s on Third
8350 W Third St
Los Angeles, CA 90048
This marketplace/cafe combination has an exciting interior full of mediterranean inspired food, they also boast over 100 domestic and imported cheeses, charcuterie, olives and pastas. As well as their almost legendary cupcakes.
Le Labo
8385 W. 3rd St.,
Los Angeles
Obviously not only available in L.A. But its cool, calming, interior, friendly staff (Heather) and chatty customers makes the experience of buying a bottle of Rose 31 a happy one.
Plastica
8405 West 3rd St.
Los Angeles, CA. 90048
Originally opened in Silverlake in 1996, Plastica is a boutique filled with accessories, housewares, gifts, kids toys and office accessories which are predominantly made of plastic.
OK
8303 W Third St
Los Angeles, CA 90048-4310
It would be hard to say which of the of the shops on Third Street was the most interesting and friendliest – but OK would definitely rank up there with the best.
Owner Larry Schaffer lives in the Neutra buildings in Silverlake featured here:

OK has everything from glassware, ceramics, design books, gifts and homeware.
And finally…
The Little Door
8164 W 3rd St, Los Angeles, CA
Dinner here with our mates in the candlelit gardens, with trickling fountain was a magical experience – thanks to Whitney for booking us all in here…
